Décastar Talence 2024 – DECATHLON – Stats and Projections
New feature in DecaAmerica: IDEAL HEPTATHLON
Thank you to a detailed work of our friend and colleague Yoshiaki Oikawa (JPN/ATFS) today we have the first approach to the IDEAL HEPTATHLON.
I’m very proud to announce this new statistic to all our followers, that can be update regularly, after each important meeting.
The alltime leader of IDEAL HEPTATHLON is, as everyone can assume, Jackie Joyner-Kersee of the United States of America, the Heptathlon World Record Holder. The Ideal Total (calculated based on personal bests in Heptathlon events) of JJK is 7654 points, more than 300 points ahead of her closest pursuer, the leader among active heptathletes, Nafissatou Thiam de Bélgica (7321p).
In our statistic we present all the heptathletes with ideal total over 6900 points (44; 25 of them above 7000p). Also, to complete the list, all the active heptathletes with 6700p or more.
Enjoy the work. Any addition, correction and contribution to this work will be welcomed.
Decathlon – after Olympic Games
All the Decathlon’s statistics have been updated after Olympic Games Paris 2024.
To check the statistics, you can visit the site dedicated exclusively to Decathlon in DecaAmerica.
The most relevant modification was, without a doubt, the World Decathlon Best of Discus throw, for Leo Neugebauer of Germany, with a throw of 57.70m (it is found in WDB Progression and in Decathlon – Individual Event Lists).
The event with the most changes in Top-20 in 2024 was the 110m hurdles with three new decathletes.
All Decathlon statistics have a new format.
All the updates on Decathlon statistics were made for Yoshiaki Oikawa.
New Top-20 marks
Two new Top-20 individual marks were performed in the week of Conference Championships in the NCAA (the university circuit in USA).
The decathlete Kyle Garland (USA/University of Georgia) improved his 110m hurdles best result inside a Decathlon from 13.71 to 13.66 (w: +2.1). Now he is seated in position number 12 of all times.

Between the ladies the great improvement arrived in the name of Allie Jones (USA/University of South California) who run the 100m hurdles in 12.81 to move up (for the first time in Top-20) until twelfth place.
Indoor Combined Events – NEVER PUBLISHED STATISTICS!!!
By Néstor Calixto
A new statistical feature has arrived to DecaAmerica, courtesy of Yoshiaki Oikawa.
For the first time in history, lists of the seven events included in the Men Indoor Heptathlon and the five events that conform the Women Indoor Pentathlon are published.
HEPTATHLON INDIVIDUAL EVENT LISTS
PENTATHLON INDIVIDUAL EVENT LISTS
In a great effort of historical compilation, Yoshi has managed to bring together in a single document, separated by sex, many years of efforts of the best specialists in the world.
I leave this magnificent work available to the readers of our website. Your comments, additions, corrections and all possible feedback to these listings will be welcome.
We already have other statistics for both events, Heptathlon and Pentathlon, ready, which you can also consult at the corresponding link.
New look of the competition pages
I present to you a new look for the competition pages of DecaAmerica.
With this new version, the information is better distributed on the page, since we have separated the Decathlon from the Heptathlon.
Existing pages have been moved to this new format.
Thus, they will be able to see how the pages of the Decastar of Talence and the South American Games (ODESUR) have turned out.
I hope you enjoy them
Great discovery
By Yoshiaki Oikawa
Hello members
It is a big surprise for all Combined Events fans! Just a week ago I have received amazement mail from German, Carsten Everts, who is Decathlon mania and would know my address through Decathlon2000 site.
There I can find hidden stats in old days. In 1977 GDR’s thrower Armin Lemme established 56.18m in discus at Decathlon competition. If it should be true, his mark must treat as World Decathlon Best (WDB)!
Therefore, I try to confirm his mark and situation around the competition with several sources. Eventually I found it is real so decided to put it at the top of all time individual list.

Well, why have combined events statisticians and famous sources overlooked until now?
I think they did not notice it because it was local meeting in Magdeburg with low Deca score (6697h) or they might ignore the mark according to their list’s limit of 7000/8000 points.
Anyway, this is historical finding, which we want to share with the world.
Lemme’s lifetime stats
<PB: SP 19.72m (’82); DT 68.50m (’82). Honors: 82 EURCh 4th (63.94m); 81 WCp 1st (66.38m); 81 WUG 1st (65.90)>

ODESUR in DecaAmérica
By Néstor Calixto

It is with great pleasure that I announce that DecaAmérica has just published its page dedicated exclusively to the South American Games, a multi-sport competition that has been organized, since 1978, uninterruptedly every four years. In 2022 the games arrive for the first time in history to Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.
Here you can find a gallery with the champions of all the editions, the records of the Games and a section dedicated to the next edition, that will be disputed between October 12 and 15 of 2022.
All the statistics that we publish regularly can be downloaded directly from the 2022 Edition section: Ideal Deca and Hepta, PB of all competitors, national records of all participating countries and projections.
On this occasion we have added, in an unprecedented and unique format, the historical results of all the editions of the Games, which can be consulted by simply clicking on the year of the edition. You can also enjoy an equally unprecedented list of all the athletes who have competed in the Decathlon or Heptathlon throughout the history of these South American Games.
